Teetay!...The First...African Ballerina!

The year is 1672 and a little African girl

about six named Teetay, goes with

her mother, Lelon, to work today.

The mother works as a servant at King Louis

XIV's

Palace of Versailles.

Teetay helps her

mother out at times with the work, and today

is no different.

After the day's work is done, and they are

about to leave. Teetay hears some music and

applause coming from the other side of a

barely open door, and she

walks over and looks

through the opening.

To her amazement, she sees men and women

wearing white tights and dancing, jumping,

and turning in pretty circles! "Wow," she

silently says to herself, "they move so nice!"

After a couple of minutes more of

enthrallment, her mother comes her way and

says, "Teetay, it's time for us to go!"
